Why your e-commerce web site is not selling a thing?

Ok. You have set up a great store, selling great products and competitive prices. Your products fly off the shelves in your physical retail outlets, but your website does not sell a thing.

You have tried setting up affiliate programs and get referrals from other heavy traffic web sites. Still no sales.

What are you doing wrong?

Comments from an affiliate

I have joined a number of affiliate programs, for products I love, at great prices.

I noticed that some of these merchants do not seem to make any sales from my site, while others sell off their products very well.

I went to look at those stores and found out what was wrong with the non performing merchants.

Check your web site

Web site is down often.
The products your affiliates are promoting are not in stock and have not been in stock for a long time.
The pages of your web site take forever (read more than 7 seconds) to load.
Your customer can't figure out how to buy your products.
Your web site is not built to sell.

What you could do

Make sure your web site is up all the time.
Inform your affiliates when products are out of stock and suggest what they could sell instead.
Keep your graphics small to minimize loading time. Use a thumbnail. Your customer can click on it to see a bigger picture.
Make it easy for your customer to buy from you. Make site navigation simple so that anyone can buy from you.
