Your preschool kids are bored and running wild on a rainy day.
Here's an idea to keep them occupied for an hour or two (if you are
lucky).
What you need
You will need
A pallette of water colours to act as a stamp pad
A container of water for him to dip the vegetables into.
Paper from a drawing block for painting in school would be just
right.
From the fridge, find some root vegetables you could spare.
A Potato and a carrot would be great.
Preparations
Cut the potato in half.
Cut each half lengthwise in shapes large enough for your kid could handle
with his little hand.
Cut a carrot into several pieces
Cut each surface so that it would form an interesting shape
Play time
Let the kids dip the vegetable pieces into the paint and stamp or smear
that on the paper. Show them how to wet the vegetable pieces and them into
the water colour pallete and them stamp onto the paper.
Give them another piece of paper to work on when they are through.
That would keep them occupied for a while.
As added incentive, you could hang their finished artwork on the wall.
My 3 year old and 4 year old loved it.
While making your own vegetable stamps can be fun, in the long run, it would be more practical to get a stamp set that can be used over and over again. More economical that way, as your vegetable stamp kit would go mouldy and well, making these stamps from vegetable means you're wasting food.
Get these stamp sets to keep your kids occupied on rainy days.
