Cervical Cancer

I just got news from Catherine Ericson of http://www.thehpvtest.com regarding cervical cancer in women.

We all know that PAP smear done regularly is crucial in detecting the cancer in its early stages. Early detection may mean a difference between life and death.

This is what she says "The Pap test reveals abnormal
cancer cells, but it does not reveal Human Papillomavirus (HPV), the virus that causes Cervical Cancer, nor does it determine the risk for developing cervical disease.
Fortunately, a new test has been developed to address this issue. The Digene HPV Test is used as a follow up to an abnormal (or ASCUS) Pap smear and can now detect HPV in cervical cells and tissues. Further, the Digene HPV Test, which has been approved by the FDA as a secondary measure of
testing, can indicate the presence of HPV even before there are visible cell changes, and identify the type of HPV present as low or high risk. The Digene HPV Test identifies a woman’s risk of developing cervical cancer and in turn, which patients need more follow-up in addition to receiving regular Pap tests.

Women in the United States, and all over the world, need to be informed about HPV and the existence of HPV testing. We have devoted a portion of our web site to educate women on this particular health need and offer a hotline for those women who have questions that cannot wait."

Please visit  http://www.thehpvtest.com for details. You'll find testimonials from doctors, article reprints, details on the test and links to useful sites there.
