What do you expect when you use AHA products
Most cosmetic products don"t contain enough AHAs or are not acidic enough to
show much effect.
I"ve tried an AHA treatment in a doctor"s office though. It stung immediately
when applied on my skin. It made my skin look slightly sun burnt and resulted in
some superficial scars (My skin is really very sensitive. It reacts to
practically anything. Even products from reputable companies many other women
swear by, either give me pimples or are too harsh for my skin, so I"m not
surprised at my reaction). The scars soon healed and left my skin looking
refreshed.
For stronger AHA products, skin (especially sensitive skin) may turn pink or
red and look sun burnt. This would be for a few weeks before skin starts to look
better. Sounds pretty much like Retin A. Skin looks worse before it improves to
look better than it had ever been.
In any case, if in doubt, check with your doctor before embarking on any AHA
treatments.
