Milk is a skin softener and moisturiser. Used alone or with Honey,
it leaves skin really soft and silky. Use unflavoured, unsweetened milk with
minimal additives for these.
The milk bath
(This one's from Mother Nature's Guide to Vibrant Beauty...)
Add 1 cup of instant full cream milk powder to your bath. If you like, dilute
2 drops of Essential oil in 1
tablespoon of sweet almond oil for added luxury and add it to your bath.
Soak in the milk bath for as long as you like.
When you come out, remember to rinse off the milk with lots of water.
Remember. Milk is a rich source of nutrients. At the same time, it is a
breeding ground for bacteria when left at room temperature. That is why all
traces of milk should be removed from your skin after use. If not, it could lead
to pimples if your skin is prone to acne.
The milk and honey bath for baby or little kids
This one's my 3 year old son's favourite. The first time he tried it, he
looked at his legs and told me 'mummy, no more itchy'. (He has mild
eczema).
Fill your kid's bath with warm water. Add 2 drops of lavender oil
to 1 tablespoon of honey. Add that to your kids' bath. Add 2 tablespoons
of milk powder into the child's bath.
Let him soak in the bath and scrub him with a wash cloth to get rid of the
dirt.
After that, shower him to remove all traces of the milk and honey. Towel dry.
Milk and honey shower gel substitute.
Not all of us use bath tubs. For those of us who shower, this is a useful non
soapy, non foaming shower gel replacement. This is my personal favourite.
Take to clean (sterile if possible) containers with airtight lids.
Fill the first with milk powder. Fill the second with lavender honey. That
is, for every tablespoon of honey, add 1 drop of lavender oil
to keep away the ants. Keep both containers tightly covered in the bathroom.
To use
Shower first to wet your skin.
Pour some lavender honey into your hand. Pour some milk powder onto the honey
and mix well with your fingers. Apply onto your body as you would any shower
gel.
Rinse off thoroughly and towel dry.
This would leave your skin really soft and silky smooth.
