Home Made Eye Gel
Puffy eye bags? You need not spend a bomb on commercial eye gels as you can
make your own protein rich eye gel easily in the kitchen. All you need is some
eyebright leaves, elder flowers, gelatin and some distilled water.
Recipe
Mix 1 tsp dried or 1 tbsp fresh eyebright leaves with 1 tsp dried flowers or
1tbsp fresh sprig of elderflowers.
Put them in 1 and a quarter cups of distilled water. Cover and bring to a
boil. Simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, strain and keep the liquid.
Add 60ml of the liquid to 1 and a half teaspoons of powdered gelatin. Leave
it to settle for 10 minutes. Then heat up the gelatin and liquid mixture to melt
and dissolve the gelatin.
Transfer the gelatin mixture to a sterile pot. Cover only when the gel has
cooled and solidified.
To use
Make sure you do a patch test (Apply some on your arm in the crook of your
elbow and leave it on overnight. If no irritation occurs, then you may use it on
your face.)
This makes a tightening under eye gel. Great to tighten the eye bags
under the eyes for a fresher look. Just apply it under your eyes.
Keep it refrigerated and discard after 1 month. If it smells or looks
different, throw it away. It could have gone bad. If it irritates your skin,
wash it off with lots of water immediately.
