You can make your own aloe vera gel.

For that, you use the clear colorless fillet within the aloe vera leaf, but be careful to avoid the yellow liquid (aloin) as that liquid is very irritating to the skin.

Slice the aloe leaf lengthwise and peel off the green rind. Wash it in distilled water. Then boil it in a little distilled water to neutralize whatever aloin that may have gotten into that gel. Blend the gel to make it a liquid. Now you have your own aloe vera gel that is ready for use in your beauty preparations.

I'm too lazy to go through all that. Also I don't want to risk skin allergies due to any aloin that gets into my mask accidentally, so I buy ready made aloe vera gel from stores. There are many available. You can pick the ones that are as pure as possible and from the fillet of the aloe vera leaf.
