My face had red irritated patches again. I think it reacted to the new
cleansing foam I had been testing which I had been hoping to review on this
site. Another product down the drain. It was an AHA cleansing foam I had picked
up at the drug store. I won't mention the name as I don't want a lawsuit.
Aloe vera is great for soothing irritated skin. However, the aloin found
underneath the green rind can irritate the skin. Pouring boiling water over it
seems to neutralize this irritating effect.
- Cut off a large leaf from an aloe vera plant. Wash it thoroughly
- With a small knife, carefully peel the leaf to remove the green rind.
- Keep the clear pulp in a very clean small bowl.
- Pour just enough boiling water over the clear aloe vera pulp to cover it.
- Pour boiling water over a clean fork
- Use the fork to mash the pulp into the water.
- Add kaolin powder to it (Alternatively, you could use rice flour. I prefer
kaolin on my skin though.)
- Continue mixing the kaolin and the aloe vera pulp with the fork and adding
more kaolin until you get a very thick smooth paste.
Using the mask
- Cut a hole in a large sterile gauze. This hole would go over your
nostrils. (You need to breathe). Put this large sterile gauze over your
face.
- Apply the kaolin aloe vera mask over the gauze, pressing it onto your
face. It should hold. Avoid eye areas and avoid your nostrils.
- Leave it on to dry for at least 20 minutes.
- Wash off the remaining mask with plenty of water.
Verdict
This worked for my skin. It felt soothing and my skin looked almost back
to normal after that.
