Insomnia

Do you have trouble sleeping? Toss and turn all night long, unable to sleep? Too stressed or tense to sleep?
Insomnia is a problem many of us face. Here are some ways to deal with it, without resorting to sleeping pills..

Drink some milk before you go to bed. Milk contain an amino acid that helps induce sleep.

Avoid tea and coffee. Coffee contains caffeine. Tea contains tannin. Both are stimulants that could keep you awake at night. Personally, tea in the afternoon gives me insomnia at night. Peppermint tea is also a stimulant. Avoid that too if you have insomnia.

Certain essential oils can also keep you awake. Avoid using peppermint essential oil or rosemary essential oil in the evening if you have trouble sleeping. Some people find that geranium essential oil keeps them awake. Others find geranium relaxes them. If you are one of those that finds geranium keeping you awake, then avoid that too.

Lavender essential oil is a well known for its relaxing properties. Place a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow before you sleep.

Mandarin oil has sedative properties too. To use that in a bath, mix 5 drops of mandarin oil in 1 tablespoon of cold pressed vegetable oil. Add that to a warm bath. Soak in the bath, relax and enjoy the lovely aroma, just before bedtime. You could also try 5 drops of chamomile oil in 1 tablespoon of cold pressed vegetable oil in your bath.

Get a body massage with a relaxing blend of oils. Mix 1 drop of lavender essential oil and 1 drop of chamomile essential oil in  teaspoon of cold pressed vegetable oil. Massage your body with that. Alternatively, you could try 5 drops of lavender essential oil and 1 drop of geranium essential oil in  tablespoon of cold pressed vegetable oil. That works for some people. 1 drop of rose essential oil in  tablespoon of cold pressed vegetable oil makes a luxurious relaxing oil for body massage if you want to pamper yourself.

Change your sleeping position.

Get a comfortable pillow.

Diffuse lavender oil, petitgrain oil or marjoram oil in your room.

Or take melatonin an hour before your bedtime.

Just Rest and Relax
