Chicken Soup PoetryHeard of the chicken soup series?
I stumbled on a book of poetry that is as inspiring as those books. It has nothing to do with the Chicken Soup series. Instead, it is from an small, print on demand publisher, Athse Publishing. At first glance, from reading the blurb, I wouldn't have bought it. But it came highly recommended by a friend whose taste I trust.
The funny thing is that I don't even like poetry. It reminds me of the year I almost flunked English literature in school. That was two years after I had won the English Literature form prize which made it twice as painful. Still, I read it and was floored by the very first poem. It moved me to tears. About a teacher and a child, written with so much.. soul.. is that the word to describe it?
Like all things beautiful, this book of poems is hard to describe in words, even though poetry is after all a pleasing string of words that touch the heart.
Anyway, the book I'm talking about is
A Paper Waltz. At $2 a download, it's a steal. I bought the download and regretted not getting the print version $7.49 instead. It is the sort of book you'd want to keep. To hold in your hand to read when you're down.
You can get the preview at http://www.lulu.com/browse/preview.php?fCID=234037 I bought a bunch of downloadable books from Athse Publishing. That's a treasure trove of inspiring stuff.
If you're more into the mainstream chicken soup series, here are the ones I've found.
