Palmarosa(Cymbopogon Martinii) Palmarosa, or "Indian Geranium" has a rose like scent, similar to geranium. It is antibacterial, balancing and regenerating. PropertiesIts main component is Geraniol. According to Advanced Aromatherapy: The Science of... by Kurt Shnaubelt, palmarosa is "effective against viruses, yet mild and non toxic". It is "effective against viral illnesses of throat and lungs". According to The Illustrated Encyclopedia of...by Julia Lawless, "It is effective against the colibacillus, the Eberth bacillus and bacillus of dysentery". UsesMaggie Tisserand, in her book Stress: The Aromatic Solution recommends Palmarosa for acne, alopecia, lack of concentration and depression with apathy and despair. Other aroma therapists recommend it as an oil to diffuse during flu epidemics. Its action against viral illnesses and against bacteria, together with its pleasant smell make it a great oil to use to disinfect a room. It is recommended for acne. Check out Aromatic Home facial for acne For alopecia, (hair loss), add 5 drops of palmarosa and 5 drops of Lemon to 100ml of unscented shampoo to shampoo your hair with. 2 drops of lavender oil, 2 drops of Lemon, and 2 drops of palmarosa in 10 ml jojoba oil make a great preshampoo hair conditioner. For lack of concentration, simply vaporize palmarosa oil in your room. For depression, dilute 1 drop of palmarosa in 5 ml of CarrierOil and get someone to massage you, or massage yourself with it.
